Gerard Dae is a water strider (gerridae), and a student at Necotech University. Most people recognize him as the most popular kid in the year, as he seems to be friends with almost everyone in the year.
Personality[]
Being the most popular boy in Nectotech means that Gerard gets along with practically everyone; whether it be BΣT, ΣΙΓ or anyone in-between. He is polite to everyone and makes it his duty to get to know them personally. Making him one of the most approachable students to ever set throughout the year. Gerard prides himself on his nice attitude and the way he acts around other people, having a quirky awkwardness about him but still being able to show the confidence he needs.
Despite this, it is shown that Gerard can be a very single minded person. From abandoning his old friends in order to become more liked to constantly hanging out with groups of people who have a large distaste of each other, he can become easily blindsided to how his actions may make the people around him feel. This is not intentional for him, however, as whenever caught out he will be the first to apologise and try to understand things from all points of view. Showing a sense of understanding and the need to improve from his actions.
Gerard has been shown at times to think that popularity is about the only thing he has going for him and tends to believe that the people who claim to be his friends only do so for attention. This is why he spends most of his life attempting to fit in or to please others, and easily feels threatened by other male characters whom he deems to possess talents that favour his own and is why he doesn’t take too well to the main trio at first, and why his friendship with Chrys can be seen as very superficial - the other wanting what Gerard has and Gerards need to keep him at a firmer distance, more often than not treating him in jest.
Overall, it seems that Gerard has an interest in appearing cool and trendy in order to impress people, but has a shallow understanding of how to do so properly. Because of that, he gets easily influenced by what's popular or stylish at the moment, even if it's at the cost of relationships with other people.
